Adjunct Therapies

The goal of acupuncture treatment is to stimulate the Qi to re-establish balance and promote healing. Using needles at the acupuncture points is only one modality used to achieve this. A skilled practitioner will employ appropriate adjunct therapies, either alone or in conjunction with acupuncture needles, to fully address each patient's health issues. Moxibustion, cupping, and gua sha are traditional therapies that have been used for many centuries. In more recent times, modern tools, such as electrical stimulation or infrared light application, has been added by many practitioners. These therapies will be used when called for in treatment strategies. These practices are described in further detail on the hyperlinks on this page.
